Spotlight on Asylum Seekers at the Border - November 8, 2018 7PM

Between September 2015 and October 2016, 115,399 individuals applied for asylum in the U.S., a significant increase from previous years. Over the past several years, asylum seekers have been discussed in the news more frequently, but many people still have unanswered questions about them. Questions like: Who are these asylum seekers? How are they different from refugees or other immigrants? What rights do they have in the U.S.? And what can we do to help them?

Join us on November 8th at 7PM to hear from Kevin Woehr, one of World Relief’s Immigration legal specialists, and Kyle Knapp, an immigration attorney. Both Kyle and Kevin have witnessed the asylum process first-hand at the U.S.-Mexico border, and will share stories of some of the asylum seekers they met there. They will also share about recent changes to U.S. asylum policies and how World Relief is serving asylum seekers right here in Illinois.
